B.S. in Emergency Health Services

A grade of “C” or better is required for all courses in the major.  Courses intended to count toward the fulfillment of the major may not be taken on the P/F or S/U options.

Chose a Track or Concentration

A track or concentration is required of all majors. Students may choose from the following three options:

  1. Emergency and Disaster Health Management Track
  2. Emergency Health Leadership Track
  3. Paramedic Concentration

Emergency and Disaster Health Management Track

  • 11 required classes for track (33 credits)
  • 27 elective credits*, 9 of which must be upper level (300 or 400-level)
  • Track Total: 60-69 credits
  • Total for B.S.: 78-87 credits

Emergency Health Leadership Track

  • Students must have completed a paramedic program and may transfer in up to 30 credits of paramedic coursework from a CAAHEP-accredited program
  • 5 required classes for track (15 credits)
  • 14 elective credits*, 9 of which must be upper level (300 or 400-level)
  • Track Total: 60-69 credits
  • Total for B.S.: 78-87 credits

Paramedic Concentration

  • Students must have a current, acceptable EMT certification OR complete 6 credits of EMT classes
  • 2 classes (6 credits) in Emergency Health Services
  • 20-22 credits in science, including biology, chemistry, statistics, and psychology
  • 13 required classes for concentration (46 credits)
  • Concentration Total: 89-91 credits
  • Total for B.S.: 123-125 credits

*Note about elective credits: Students may choose from approved elective pathways, which include approved minors, approved certificates, and/or approved elective classes. Students may combine pathways to achieve the required credits.
