If I’m already a paramedic, can I take UMBC’s paramedic program for credit?
Due to accreditation requirements, the UMBC Paramedic Concentration is designed for students who are not already paramedics.
Students wishing to enroll in other undergraduate tracks with the EDHS Department may receive up to 30 transfer credits for their approved paramedic program coursework, up to 70 credits from a community college, and up to 90 credits from a 4-year university. Besides EMT (EDHS 202/203) and medical terminology (EDHS 115), other EMS-specific courses will not transfer.

Is the degree available online?
While components of the degree are online, most of the coursework is done in residence and requires on campus course work.
I am already a manager, supervisor etc, do I get credit for these life experiences?
Life experience credit is granted on a case by case basis and any credit is given toward the capstone internship. Certain other experience may substitute for other courses, depending on circumstance.
The internship is a 15 credit, full-semester experience, and a maximum of eight (8) credits of life experience credit may be awarded. Please contact an advisor at the end of your junior year for more information.
