Combined Degree Program (B.A./M.S.)
Students in the Emergency & Disaster Health Systems (EDHS) undergraduate program who meet specific qualifications may opt for a combined BS/MS degree. Application for this program is made during your Junior year of undergraduate study and must be approved by both the Graduate Program Director and the Advisor for your undergraduate degree track. Once approved, you will need to apply to the Graduate School for the EDHS Master’s degree track you wish to pursue and will be allowed to start taking graduate level courses during your Senior year. Under optimal conditions, this program can be completed in five (5) years.

Emergency Management Certificate
The Emergency Management Post-Baccalaureate Certificate provides a 5-course (minimum) option for those interested in emergency management, with two recommended courses of optional study available. This certificate can be obtained as a stand-alone option, or as part of the M.S. degree. Under the guidance of the program advisor, combination of the certificate program and the M.S. degree may be possible. Courses are available through distance education (completely online) or through on-campus/hybrid courses.
Master’s of Science (M.S.) in Emergency Health Services
Two tracks are available to the Master’s level emergency health services major:
Each track begins with a mandatory core of (4) courses, followed by track recommended courses. All tracks are available through on-campus/hybrid courses or through distance education completely online.
An Education Concentration is available in either EHS track with the completion of 12 credits in an Informational Systems Development Graduate Certificate from Learning and Performance Technology (LAPT). The certificate courses will be taken concurrently with the Emergency Health Service degree and the courses will count towards completion of the degree requirements. All of these courses are offered via distance learning (online). For the most up to date information on these certificate, please check the LAPT website.

Ph.D in Public Policy with Emergency and Disaster Health Systems Concentrations*
In collaboration with the School of Public Policy, a specialization focus can be taking concurrently with the Public Policy PhD degree. [*PLEASE NOTE: The PhD is offered through the School of Public Policy and they are the Administrators. EDHS only advises for the Specialization part of the degree. EDHS classes can be taken either completely online or hybrid/on-campus. Public Policy courses are in-person only]
This focus is for the professional specializing in public health, disaster care and emergency management. There are two pathways: emergency health and emergency management. The emergency health pathway includes courses in disaster health, catastrophes, and system design. The emergency management pathway includes courses in disaster mitigation, catastrophe preparation and response, and strategic planning and offers the ability to complete the EDHS Emergency Management graduate certificate (see above).
